ADA GOP IMPLODES

The following is a response to another hitpiece by Dan Poopkey. Bill Sali, Larry Craig, Brandi Swindell, and Challis McAffee are all favourite targets of Poopkey.  What do they all have in common?  They are Republicans.

In the article the commentator quotes Republican leaders attacking Republicans, Challis McAffee and Ryan Davidson.  What is particularly disturbing is how divisive Republicans, Marcell Bulljarsky and Dawn Hatch are. Not to mention, Risch supporter, Brad Hoaglun. Marcell even says he has nothing good to say about a fellow Republican. ”I can’t put it politely, so I won’t say it.” That’s a terrible thing to admit, Marcel.

Is this the kind of leadership we want at the Ada County GOP?  I may vigorously disagree with Challis and Ryan on peripheral issues, but they are not my enemies.  This swan song, appropriately marks Marcel’s departure as Ada County Chair.  Marcel has thrown all good judgement to the wind.  Talking to a leftist journalist about internal politics is a betrayal of the party. “To allow Ryan Davidson to pick and choose who will run – that’s giving up a big liberty,” said Marcel of Davidson, who volunteered to assist candidates.

Marcel also attacks the idea of reforming the Fed. “People are not going to buy into the top issues of the Paul people – getting rid of the Federal Reserve and bringing back the gold standard,” Bujarski said. “That’s too far, and it isn’t going to happen.” Marcel should know that Minnick is a co-sponsor of the audit the fed bill, along with Simpson and over 300 others.  And he should understand that to audit the fed is essentially to end the fed.  The fed is the pinnacle of fiscal irresponsibility.  There are hundreds of articles on this issue.  By extension, sound money is a resolution of the State GOP, as of the December state central committee.  If you do not like the party position, you might want to find another party.

Dawn Hatch is demonstrably also a failed leader.  Her animosity for young Republicans rings alarmist.  ”They’re caught up in this revolutionary fervor,” Hatch said. “It’s going to take level heads and not mobs to get things back the way we want.” She should be leaving with Marcel.  She has tainted her many years of experience with prejudice.  Meanwhile Dawn recently sat through a short speech by Precinct Committeeman Michelle Glasgow about bringing the party together. Michelle should counsel Dawn Hatch, who describes Ron-Paul fans as an angry mob.  This invective resembles how Obama supporters attack the Tea Party more than how Republicans talk about each other.  Hatch should be ashamed of her backbiting comments.

Brad Hoaglun should also resign, as Region 4 GOP chair.  His comments are deeply divisive, playing into Popkey’s desire to destroy the GOP by exploiting disagreements. “We’ve tried to work with them [Ryan and Challis] and they just don’t want to play,” said Hoaglun, who noted that Risch is ranked the fifth [wealthiest] senator. “If [Risch] doesn’t pass their muster, what are they looking for?”  Risch allowed sales tax to increase and was embroiled in a government vs private property rights incident while governor. The suggestion that precinct people are obligated to distribute flyers for candidates they do not support is a complete misunderstanding of the precinct position.  I didn’t see Brad distributing city council flyers in an off year, despite repeated calls from members of the Ada County GOP, like Dave Shurtleff, to support conservative candidates.  The hypocrisy of omission seems to be Hoaglun’s.

Norm Semanko is the only Republican that is rising above the fray and refusing to be a useful tool of the left columnist.

Leaving Idaho Alone

In the rain, January 26th, 2010 Vaughn Ward is “kicking off” his campaign on the Capitol steps with supporters Kempthorne and Luna. Not the most respected Republicans in Idaho, but okay. I am calling Ward to abandon his campaign for the 1st Congressional District. His campaign is causing rifts in the Republican Party on the magnitude of the Sali campaign in 2008.

Kempthorne is the ex-governor who put polar bears back on the endangered species list, in deference to Al Gore’s inconvenient lies. We already have two environmental extremists in Congress. Simpson voted to protect the Southern Sea Otter and expand federal lands in Oregon. Minnick wants to expand federal wilderness in northern Idaho and breach dams. We don’t need Kempthorne’s guy to bring more of the same.

Luna is almost as bad at politics as Ward. Case in point: Luna has been pushing “Race to the Top,” a hundred million dollar pilot program funded by Obama stimulus dollars. It is neither favored by fiscal conservatives, who hate pork, nor by teachers, who hate accountability standards. I could have explained these dynamics to Luna, after sitting in on a meeting a month ago. Ironic that Luna was hoping to woo teachers and more importantly the teacher’s union, and the teachers aren’t taking the bait. Luna alienates everyone. It’s lunacy.

But, let’s talk about Ward. What’s important is that the liberal Republicans are flocking to Ward. Obama supporters may shrug off guilt by association, but conservatives don’t. If you walk with the ducks and quack with the ducks, you are more duck than bronco.

Ward also says he’s a 4th-generation Idahoan. But, there is copious concern that Ward is a carpetbagger. He has not lived in Idaho for many years, recently leaving Las Vegas for Boise. It has been said that if he loses, he will move to Virginia. Virginia? His primary benefactor is McCain, and McCain is the typical Washington DC Republican. Ward would move to Virginia to be closer to his biggest patron. So, what would cause Ward to stay in Idaho?

His political career doesn’t seem to be leading him to stay local and run for state legislature. His campaign website poses him as a veritable enemy of the state legislature. This from Ward’s website: “I’ve noticed a curious trend. Boise lawmakers seem to think they will both provide the candidate from among themselves and be the sole decision makers on who wins the primary election.” What he doesn’t mention is that this legislature is the most conservative in recent history. This legislature stopped a gas tax increase in 2009, pushed by the RINO governor. This legislature wants to reduce or eliminate Idaho’s income tax. Ward would do well to get support from those type of Republicans. But, no. Attack, attack, attack. Why not learn how to make friends first, Ward?

I hear that Ward is a Christian. Will he swear a sacred oath that he would not move from Idaho, if he loses? How stable is he? How much does he really care for Idaho? Why do I even have to ask these questions? How can anyone vote for someone, who is cause for such concern?

Give me a Representative from Idaho, not a political song and dance. And, while I’m at it, can Ward get some red, white, and blue on his website? What’s conservative about that?
